What Only You Can Do

It’s 2AM inside

these anxious thoughts of mine and

Notions of peace are elusive as sleep

Cause fear no longer hides

My world’s coming apart

despite this desperate heart that’d

Do anything to somehow bring

A light into this dark

There’s not much I have not yet tried

And time is running out

God would You do what only You can do?

There’s nothing left to give

still everything’s to lose

Despair unravels hope

till only threads remain and I

Shake in my skin cause what would happen

If these tiny threads should break?

But faith calls out to me

beyond what I can see and

Stitches up seams of things believed

That are not yet to be

With all else gone I’m holding on

To what is holding me

God would You do what only You can do?

When nothing can be done

it’s nothing new to You

Only You could plant the oceans

And only You could part the seas

Only You could form the mountains

And move this one for me
